About Us

We're husband+wife team, Charlie and Kirby Apel. We founded Gathered House Design + Build in 2016 while living in the stunning Pacific Northwest. In 2022, we moved our business and family of six back home to Texas to finish raising our children nearer to family and decades-long friends. A love for good food and a passion for building community runs deep in our Southern roots, so while we love crafting complete renovations—creating gathering spaces to make room for all your loved ones is our sweet spot.
